Hungarian Cabbage Soup III

Well, this delightful recipe is a good choice to ease that rumbling tummy! Hungarian cabbage soup is one of the most popular Polish, Slovak, and Ukrainian recipes, but many countries around the world have adopted it too. Obviously, our recipe today is from Hungary. It is not too late for you to learn this dish, especially as this is the best cure for a hungry tummy!
1 lb smoked pork ribs
½ large head cabbage chopped or shredded
6 cup beef broth or water
1 large red onion chopped
2 ribs celery chopped
1 Tbsp Hungarian paprika
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 large bay leaves
½ cup Sauerkraut drained rinsed
1 cup Sour cream to garnish
Salt & Pepper to taste,
1 - Place pork in soup kettle. Add a little oil if meat is lean. Cook over low heat until meat is lightly browned. Add onion and cook until transparent. Add tomatoes and hot water. Cover and simmer gently for 30 minutes.
2 - Add chopped cabbage and salt to taste. Cover and simmer until meat and cabbage are tender. Combine flour, paprika and 1/4 cup water to make a paste. Add to cabbage mixture and stir until smooth. Simmer for two minutes.
3 - Served with fresh bread and sour cream (optional)
